I’m linking up to Jenny Matlock’s Alphabet Thursday. This post is in honor of the letter “Q”. For more “Q” posts, please click here http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/
I’ve fallen in love with fly fishing. Not that I’m any good, mind you, but I love it all the same. It’s the perfect way to steal an hour after work just for yourself, not to mention you might be able to catch your dinner! There are some fall evenings that are just perfect for an hour on the river, an oasis of quiet except for the bugs flying around and the sound of the water.
It’s one of those things that makes you more in tune with nature, by figuring out what bugs are flying, you can figure out what the fish are eating. If you can figure out what they’re eating and then use a fly that looks like whatever that is, it increases your chances of catching a fish. I have a friend who says that it’s like watching paint dry. I disagree. To me an hour fishing on the river is a great way to let the problems of the day float away (pun intended).
I can work through anything that’s bothering me, figure out what I want for dinner (especially if I catch a big, fat trout) and just breathe. I don’t know about you but there are days when I feel like I’ve been holding my breath all day. An hour on the river can fix that like nothing else for me.
How about you? Do you sometimes feel like you’ve held your breath all day? What do you do to blow off a little steam? Inquiring minds want to know!
