So I had breakfast with my neighbor, a contractor and an engineer last Saturday and between the three of them they pretty much scared me to death with stories of houses falling down and roofs blowing off, etc. The plan is that we are all going to meet at the house next Saturday and they are going to take pictures, make measurements and in general, just kind of pick my house apart to see what exactly is wrong, unfinished or finished. I am worried about what they will find, but it’s the first step to getting back on track and, if their reports are bad enough, maybe Dick will just go away and let me alone.
I am also waiting for the copy of the lawsuit. I am really interested in hearing his side of it. How he can justify actually suing ME for breach of contract, when he didn’t finish the house and quit will probably make for good reading.
In the meantime, I am getting pretty good at camping out. It’s not what I had pictured as how I would spend the first few months in my new home, but in some ways it really is an adventure and I am always up for an adventure!
I have made arrangements at a boarding facility for my horses and they seem happy there for now. I may bring them back up later in the summer, but I think I’ll wait a few weeks and see how things go before making that decision. I’ll check back in after I have the reports from the “experts†and a copy of the lawsuit.
