I think we are finally getting to the end of this long, sad saga my dear virtual friends. We have been going along busily preparing for trial, motions and counter motions, petitions and counter petitions, all the fun things that the legal system requires to decide who is right and who is wrong.
Since this is something I’m familiar with, unlike plumbing and electrical issues, I’ve felt like I’m in my element. I feel pretty confident that I will win and I’ve really tried to stay positive, not even letting the thought enter my head that Dick might win and I might lose a lot of money, or even my house!
Then, out of the blue, my attorney got a call from Dick’s attorney a few days ago. He said Dick was willing to give up his contractor’s fee if I will send him the money to pay the subs. My attorney called me and we all conferenced in – me, Dick, his attorney and my attorney. I said that I didn’t trust him to pay the subcontractors, that I would pay them myself. Dick got up on his high horse and said that HE didn’t trust ME to pay the subs because I had already cheated him out of his fee. So I said, “ok, let’s call them all right now and conference them in and ask them who they want to be responsible to pay them, you or me. I have all of their numbers right here and we’ll start with the electrician because he’s owed the most. We’ll just ask him straight up if he would like me to be responsible to pay him or Dick.†Dick was quiet for a few minutes and then he said, “ok, whatever.â€
So, months and months of frustration end with “ok, whatever.â€
It’s not over until it’s over, but I am hoping that the rest of the final paperwork will be simply routine and I can put this mess behind me before the end of the year…
I can’t even begin to tell you how much your support has meant. Some of you have been here since the beginning and have offered advice, a shoulder to cry on, and friendship.
thank you. thank you. thank you….
