HOW TO MAKE PEAR SALAD

This simple salad was the hit of my book club meeting…….

Start with a bag of fresh rinsed greens

Peel and thinly slice two pears

In the meantime, toast a handful of walnuts in a small pan until they start to brown a little

Put the greens in a large bowl

add the pears, walnuts & a generous sprinkling of gorgonzola cheese

then make a simple vinaigrette by whisking the following together:

3  T walnut oil

3 T canola oil

3 T white wine vinegar

1 t dijon mustard

drop or two of honey, pinch of salt and a grind or two of black pepper

Toss the dressing to taste with the salad…

easy peasy..

Easy peasy and delicious!! I have a similar recipe, and add black berries when they’re in season. Yummy!

      Hi Pondside,

I’ll bet that the berries are wonderful. I’ve also used strawberries in this with goat cheese instead of blue..thanks for stopping by!

Hi RMW, dropping by to check out your P for today. One question: did you season the walnuts with something? Looks like it in the picture but wasn’t sure if that was salt or yummy sugar.

Thanks for dropping by today. The migraines are coming and going a lot lately. Time to make a change in my Diet Coke habits. The journey begins either tomorrow or Saturday. God help me.

No email attached to your comment and no contact here either. Bummer.

      Hi Cheryl,

I didn’t season the walnuts at all, just dry roasted in a nonstick pan.

Hey, I need a “contact me” button, don’t I? Duh. I’ll get on that. Thanks for stopping by. I gave up diet coke for the most part a few years ago and I do feel better..hang in there!

This looks delicious. Do you remember the “pear salad” that was popular in the 60’s? Half of a canned pear (in heavy syrup) on an iceberg lettuce leaf with sweetened mayo in the center? This sounds SO much better 🙂 Kathy

Yum! This looks amazing! I will have to try it! My favorite house is the last one on my post, too– it has tons of potential, I think. Good luck with your beach house search. Which part of the Oregon coast are you looking at?

      Hi Amanda,

I’m not sure yet where I will end up. At the end of the month, I’m going to look around at the Astoria area, but I think I really want to be on or near the ocean. Garibaldi is nice, decisions, decisions..
      Do you have any suggestions?
