I picked this little beauty up on my last trip to Walla Walla. It is intended as a “table wine”, a nice well balanced red that works well with food and it fits perfectly in that category. I bought three bottles and have served all three with various menus with great success. VERY food friendly red!
I have never seen it in my local wine store and it may just be available at the winery, so you should probably just plan a trip there right now to pick up a bottle. http://woodwardcanyonwinery.com/
If you take wine tasting trips and have never tried Walla Walla you are really missing out! Let me know if you go and I’ll give you a list of my favorite wineries. I’ve been there several times now. It’s a laid back, sweet little town with great restaurants and wineries. There is a nice golf course that sits right outside of town on the edge of an area known as the “wine ghetto”. When I stop there for a few days, I play golf in the morning and taste wine in the afternoon and then take a nap before setting out for dinner with more wine! It’s the perfect getaway…

Your post is perfect timing as my husband is going to a wine tasting this evening so it is just me and the kitty cat. I would love to go for a tour through a winery. Maybe this summer hubby and I can plan a trip here in New York.

Sounds interesting! When a bottle that can be paired up with different meals, it’s worth buying many..

Thanks for the post and thanks for stopping by the winery! So glad you enjoyed the wine. If you get a chance to come back to the Walla Walla Valley, be sure to stop and say “hi” to us here at Woodward Canyon.
This is a great wine and you are correct – it is only available through the winery. We do ship to quite a few states these days and are offering free shipping on six or more bottles of any type. Just in case any of your readers are interested!

Vicki,
I thought it was cool that they commented also! They were so friendly and informative when I was there that I ended up buying waayyyy more wine than I had intended…

sounds like a nice day. I don’t play golf, but a walk on a golf course is always nice. That said, is the Walla Walla you speak of in Washington State? {:-D

Now that is the life!
I’ve been to the Finger Lakes region of New York, a wonderful wine area. There are a number of vineyards, wineries, and restaurants surrounding the several lakes–all very laid back.
(I commented on your last post [I want to make that!] but it seems the comment was lost in the ethers. Hope this one makes it!)

Walla Walla…such a fun name for a city or a wine.
That’s just across the mountains from me. Dear and I need to get a B & B and do a little wine tasting.

I really need to learn to drink more red wine. I seem to favor white wine. One of my favorite wines ever is from Snowqualmie Vinyards in Washington.~Ames

I’m not a wine drinker but I’m always tasting in hopes to find one I’d like:-) I just like that this one has Walla Walla & Ghetto invovled… LOL! Oh and thanks for reading & commenting on my W post, it’s great to know that there is someone else that really does enjoy a Wirscht Salad when it’s made with the good stuff:-)

We are hoping to get to Walla Walla this fall. My husband is determined I would love to live there but I’ve never been.
Maybe he wants to live there because of this wine!
Quite possibly true. You both like the same wines!
Thanks for a wonderful link for the letter W.

I love wine bottles, all the different labels, the glasses, the wine charms, names, etc. I have tried many different wines, and have never really gotten a taste for it- I can drink a glass with dinner, but, it never was my favorite drink, I actually wish it was good to me, haha- it has always looked so glamorous, so chic… I don’t really drink any alcoholic drinks, maybe once in a blue moon, but I always think a dinner table looks so pretty, and complete with a beautiful bottle of wine chilled nearby and pretty wine glasses….

Hello.
I’m not much of a drinker, but Walla Walla sure sounds exotic, like I should be on the African Plains somewhere (lol). Thanks as always for your delightful posts.
