ROSEMARY PULL BREAD

This is a simple, rustic bread that doesn’t require hours of kneading! The lazy person’s answer to homemade Italian bread…

Ingredient list:

5 cups flour
2 t salt
1 T Italian seasoning
1 t Rosemary
1 package active dry yeast
1 cup very warm water
5 T good olive oil
1 t Kosher salt

Start by mixing together the flour and the 2 t salt

<

add the Italian seasoning & the rosemary

and the dry yeast

In a smaller bowl, combine water, milk and 3T of the oil

Stir into flour mixture and beat until thoroughly combined

Cover the bowl with a clean tea towel and set in a warm spot for about an hour, or until doubled. Oh, and this is important, make sure the tea towel has a little hole in it..

When the dough has doubled in size, generously flour a cookie sheet and press the dough into a rectangle (11 x 17″). Make dimples in the dough with your fingertips

drizzle the other 2T of olive oil over the top of the bread & sprinkle with the Kosher salt

oh yes, outstanding…

Now, let it rest again, covered with a holey, semi-clean tea towel in a warm spot in your kitchen for another hour

If you have a bake stone, start heating it up about 30 minutes before the bread is done rising, if you don’t, just preheat your oven to 400 degrees before you put the bread in. This is one of those recipes that really tastes better when you use a bake stone, though. Sigh..go get one!

Bake about 15 minutes or until brown

I usually serve this pulled apart into large chunks, with an antipasto platter filled with cheese, meats, pickled vegetables and olives and a bowl of olive oil for dripping. Make some sort of yummy pasta and you have a meal fit for a Contessa! A glass of pinot noir would round it out nicely…

Buon appetit’

Thanks for the visit … sorry you had an experience with Azlheimer’s … Mama died on December 2nd, 2006 … and on December 22nd … our daughter and her husband got a call from the adoption agency they’d been working with. Our little baby Phoebe was born that day … and came to our family just four days later! I have to think my mother had something to do with our good luck!

Thanks for the great recipe … gonna make that bread this weekend … I have all the goodies for a big Antiqpasto platter! Sounds so good.

    Thanks for sharing.

What a ridiculously delicious stop on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday’s letter “R”.

I have many rosemary bushes around my house and I think this would be a fun way to use some of it up.

It sounds like it would be good dipped in just about anything.

    Thanks for sharing this.
